Title
Gunshots to alarm
Short description
Georg Forster reported hearing three cannon shots. They were ignored at the time, only to discover later that they were meant to signal the start of a fight between the natives and the crew.
Text on source
Whilst we were here, we heard three great guns fired; but the sound being broken by many intervening objects, we suspected that they were only muskets overcharged as usual, by some young gentlemen on a shooting party.
