فلما اصبح ضرب طبله وركب مع من معه واسكي الفع وكان اخوه اسكي سليمان وطائفة من قومه هربوا منه إلى المحلة [ص. ١٦٠]
English translation
The next morning, the askia beat [ḍaraba] his drum [ṭabla-hu] and mounted his horse, accompanied by his faithful and the askia-alfaʿ.

Observations on the events description
The sentence might be read either as "he beat his drum" or "he has his drum beaten". Consequently, we cannot be sure if the askia himself sounded the royal drum in certain occasions.
