Piantate a terra le bandiere si poneva intorno le munizioni, indi tutte le coffe. i soldati formano un circolo, e varie sentinelle che si cambiano ogni due ore, sorvegliano nel caso di qualche sorpresa. [c. 211] Il suono dei corni, tamburi e pifferi annuncia la partenza. Partiti a 2 ore doppo mezza notte si continuò la marcia fino alle ore 10 antimeridiane del giorno 17.
