Title
Luxor women scold Sarah by shouting (original source)
Short description
Sarah Parker-Brown has caught ophthalmia and the women of Luxor scream when they see her washing her eyes with water.
Text on source
During the first ten days a virulent humour discharged from my eyes: I had not any tiling to apply to them: I could not hear the light. I used to filter the water to wash them. Whenever the women saw me wash them with water they would all set up a cry, telling me it was very bad, and that it was my washing them every morning that had made them so. In Nubia they had the same idea.
