Sarah Parker-Brown set off with her husband, Belzoni. In mid-1815, Sarah undertook her first trip to Egypt, motivated by a personal desire to explore the Orient and the Holy Land. In early 1818 she made a solo pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

Observations on the travel
During the exploration she faced great difficulties, but showed great courage and adaptability. In 1819 she returned to Cairo, where she met her husband again. Back in London, she published her affair with the publisher Murray in 1820.
