A surgeon's method of suturing thanks to the cries of a cat
Short description
Giovanni Battista Brocchi notes the method of closing a surgeon's wound. The latter takes a cat and brings it close to the wound, so at the animal's cry the sick person is frightened and everything in its place and he can suture.

Si prende allora un gatto e si avvicina alla ferita: questo animale alla vista di queste viscere fa ogni sforzo per afferrarle e grida. A cotal grido tutto rientra nel petto, ed il chirurgo fa la cucitura alla cute. Conviene adunque credere che ciò succeda mediante la contrazione dei visceri, e la forte inspirazione dell'ammalato spaventato dal pericolo che lo sovrasta.
