Description
Giovanni Battista Belzoni left Malta on May 19, 1815. The main reason for the trip was to build hydraulic machines to irrigate fields. Belzoni travelled along the Nile several times, until he reached Upper Nubia. In September 1819, he returned to Venice.

Observations on the travel
Giovanni Battista Belzoni met Bernardino Drovetti, Girolamo Segato, Giuseppe Nizzoli and Henry Salt for whom he conducted many archaeological excavation campaigns. Most of the artefacts he recovered on this voyage are now in the British Museum in London.
